Formation of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) Supported by NABARD
Â
As part of its mission to enhance agricultural sustainability and empower rural communities, LVSS, with the support of NABARD, has spearheaded the formation of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). These organizations are designed to unite small and marginal farmers, enabling them to collectively address the challenges of modern agriculture, such as limited market access, rising input costs, and inadequate resources. By aggregating their produce, farmers gain better bargaining power, ensuring fair prices for their goods and improved access to markets.
Â
Through this initiative, LVSS has provided technical and financial assistance to establish FPOs, focusing on capacity building, governance, and business planning. Members are trained in critical areas such as crop planning, modern agricultural practices, post-harvest management, and market linkages. Additionally, LVSS works to strengthen these organizations by facilitating credit access, ensuring the timely supply of quality inputs, and fostering partnerships with buyers and agro-industries.
The FPO model promotes a self-reliant ecosystem where farmers collectively own and operate their businesses, sharing profits and decision-making authority. This not only improves their economic resilience but also reduces dependency on intermediaries. By addressing systemic agricultural issues and building a sustainable framework, LVSS’s FPO initiatives are driving long-term socio-economic progress in rural communities.
